QUAKESCENARIO / RESEARCH
Linking earthquake processes to structural response
Research themes in earthquake rupture, wave propagation, ground motions and dam dynamics, drawing on published collaborative studies.
Research themes
Source rupture and broadband modelling. Study the relationship between rupture details and broadband radiation. Kinematic source inversion is a research method, not a claim about current JuliaSEM3D functionality.
Wave propagation in complex sites. Incorporate topography and three-dimensional media to investigate spatial variation. Frequency range and resolution depend on each model.
Full-scenario earthquake hazards. Compare ground motions across rupture scenarios within defined assumptions. Conditional scenario probabilities are not annual exceedance probabilities.
Physics-based spectral matching. Connect target spectra with site-related physical models. Spectral compatibility does not establish a unique true waveform.
Dam response and interaction. Link regional wavefields with structural models. Published nonlinear studies are distinct from the current capabilities of DamFEM.
